University of Pennsylvania Law School
15,000 SF
Completed, 2003
Architect: Susan Maxman & Partners
This $4 million addition and renovation to the University of Pennsylvania Law School grew out of a year-long feasibility study to assist the school in determining how to upgrade and expand its faculty offices. Located in a former light well adjacent to the historic 19th Century original Law School building, this addition blends old and new materials to create a garden pavilion that complements, but doesn’t compete with, its grander neighbor.
The offices are designed to be flooded with daylight with views into a “pocket park” garden of flowering, native plants. An interior corridor was transformed through new lighting and lounge furnishings.
